The word ‘yoga comes from the Sanskrit word ‘to yoke’ or union. Yoga is a union of the mind, body & soul.
I originally began practicing yoga years ago having been taking pilates classes and wishing to achieve a greater level of flexibility. When I first started I was very inflexible and couldn’t touch my toes, but something about yoga kept me coming back and I found that with regular practise the poses got easier and I became more flexible and was able to do poses that I’d originally found impossible.
As I practised yoga on a regular basis it started to change my outlook on life and eventually changed it in a major way and I decided to train to be an instructor so I could share the gift of yoga.
Yoga is known to have many health benefits and because it can be modified to suit your own fitness levels and ability, it is an excellent way to exercise.
My classes are suitable for all levels – there is no such thing as being too inflexible to practice yoga and classes can be modified for your own level of fitness and ability.
I have undertaken a Nutrition and Lifestyle in Pregnancy Course by Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU), ‘Understanding Obesity’ by The University of Edinburgh, Yoga & Physiology by New York University, and have recently completed a course in the Science of Exercise by the University of Colorado Boulder.
